The Sveza mill in Uralsky completed a major investment project resulting in production capacity increase by 40 thousand m3 per year. The investments amounted to over 1 billion rubles.

Full-scale modernisation of woodworking facilities of the plywood mill in the township of Uralsky lasted for about three years. During this period the modernisation comprised an upgrade of the existing production lines, launch of new equipment by the best global manufacturers, including Raute, a Finnish company, and elimination of bottlenecks in production. More than 1 billion rubles of own funds was allocated for accomplishing the tasks.

The mill modernisation by a quarter, to 284 thousand m3 per year, opened opportunities for the production of large format birch plywood, which is highly competitive, including in foreign markets, as well as improved labour productivity, energy efficiency, environmental performance and product quality. 39 new jobs were created for the new items of equipment installed under the “+40” investment project. The newly employed workers have already received the required training.

After the “+40” project reaching the full capacity, the Sveza production facility profitability will grow by 19% and tax payments to budgets of all levels will increase by over 20%.

The mill was visited by Rinat Khayertdinov, the Head of Nytvensky Municipal District, and Dmitry Drobinin, the Chairman of Prikamye Timber Merchants Association, who expressed an interest in familiarising themselves with results of the project. They noted the importance of the project that provides new opportunities for developing the region and addressing important social and economic issues.

With the production growth, the mill intends to significantly reduce the environmental footprint: there is another major investment project, worth over 2.5 billion rubles, nearing completion. It is the construction of a mini thermal power plant, the commissioning of which will ensure an uninterrupted power supply for the production processes of the mill, create the necessary amount of thermal energy for Uralsky, reduce the cost of production and contribute to the transition to a closed cycle economy.

In 2020 the “+40” investment project and the mini-TPP construction were included in the list of priority forest exploitation projects in the Perm Region.
